Dear parents,
It was lovely to see many of you over at Exeter School last Saturday for the open morning. I hope you enjoyed your tours and I know our Year 2 children are looking forward to their taster visit in a couple of weeks’ time.
School lunches
I’ve recently been donning my Mona Lisa apron to help out with the lunch service on a few occasions, and I have to say it’s been a real pleasure to see the children’s enjoyment of the food and hear their lovely manners when being served. Right from Nursery, our children are taught table manners, such as how to sit at the table, use their cutlery, pour a cup of water, and engage in polite conversation. After only four weeks, they are all able to clear their own plates, carefully scraping any waste into the bin, and Luna in Year 1 even took my plate for me earlier this week!
Grandparents’ afternoon
This afternoon, we’ll be holding our annual grandparents’ afternoon. This is our sixth year of running it and it’s become a real highlight in our events calendar, being such a special moment for the children and always a pleasure to have extended family and friends in school. By the time you read this, our special visitors will have enjoyed classroom tours and afternoon tea in the hall. The children will also have decorated magnetic picture frames, complete with their recent school photo, for their visitors to take away as a memento.
Next week
Next week is looking like a relatively normal week! Dr Rainbow will be visiting us on Monday morning. Just to let you know, Mrs Rickard will be out of school on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, so Reception will be taught by Mrs Goodwill on Tuesday and Mrs Smyth on Wednesday.
Have a wonderful weekend.
