At Exeter School, corporate responsibility underpins our ethos. Because we shape young minds every day, we take that responsibility seriously. As an educational institution, therefore, it drives everything we do.
We want our pupils to think beyond themselves. We instil a strong sense of social and environmental responsibility in them, helping them make ethical decisions with confidence and preparing them to become agents of positive change, both now and in the future.
Our commitment doesn’t stop at the classroom door and we actively engage with our local community in Exeter and across Devon. We champion sustainability, diversity, and inclusivity through our actions, not just our words. For example, our music partnership, run through ESMuP, brings instrumental teaching to local schools. Similarly, we open our facilities for venue hire, supporting community groups and events across our ~25-acre site.
We build our operations on integrity, transparency, and accountability, because good governance matters. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of ethical conduct, in the classroom and beyond it and strive to stay accountable to our pupils, their families, our staff, and the wider public we serve.
We also work closely with our alumni community and many former pupils support us through legacy giving and bursary donations. We are aware that some companies match their employees’ gifts to our bursary fund through corporate matching schemes. If your organisation runs a CSR programme, we’d love to hear from your team about partnering with us. We can explain how employer matching might support our bursary programme, helping to widen access for families who couldn’t otherwise afford a place.
We manage our resources thoughtfully and work with suppliers and partners who share our values. We aim to shrink our ecological footprint reducing waste, cutting energy use, and supporting sustainable transport. An example of this is our home-to-school bus network, Vectare, which helps keeps traffic down around the school.
At Exeter School corporate responsibility isn’t a policy on a shelf – it’s part of daily life, from Pre-Prep through to Sixth Form. It shapes how we teach, how we operate, and how we treat our community. Ultimately, we believe we are building a better future, one pupil and one partnership at a time.
