Exeter School has a history spanning nearly four centuries. We stand today as a vibrant, forward-thinking independent school. Because of this heritage, we’re deeply rooted in our community. As a result, we deliver the highest quality education, generation after generation. And working at Exeter School is just as rewarding.
Our picturesque 25-acre campus sits in the heart of Exeter. Here, centuries-old architecture blends with modern additions. Consequently, staff work across a genuinely striking environment, not just a functional one.
Our facilities support every subject and interest. We offer two well-appointed libraries, plus a drama studio and arts studios. In addition, we run a purpose-built music school, a chapel, and a gallery. Furthermore, we invest in top-tier ICT resources throughout the senior school. Dedicated suites support music, design technology, and sixth form study. Similarly, the junior school has its own specialised suite.
Sport matters here too, so our facilities reflect that. We maintain extensive playing fields alongside a 3G AstroTurf arena. There’s also a 25m indoor swimming pool, sports hall, and fitness suite. A climbing wall, indoor shooting range, and squash courts round out the offer. New padel courts are currently expected to be completed in October 2026. Meanwhile, we run a rigorous refurbishment programme across every classroom, therefore keeping facilities genuinely current.
Working at Exeter School means joining a team that values you. We prioritise the growth, welfare, and well being of every member of staff. Because we embrace diversity, our teams draw on a huge range of skills and experience. This spans teaching and non-teaching roles alike, from classroom specialists to operational teams. As a result, every role here contributes to something bigger.
We invest heavily in staff development too. Ongoing CPD and training run across departments, therefore building expertise at every level. This matters especially in learning support and safeguarding, where consistent training builds real trust. If you’re considering a career with us, get in touch at HR@exeterschool.org.uk.
Safeguarding sits at the centre of everything we do. Exeter School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and staff alike. Therefore, contractors, work placements, and volunteers all undergo relevant checks. This includes Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) screening for anyone working with pupils. Consequently, families and staff can trust that safety comes first, always, at every level of the school.
