Lamorna’s riding success

Posted: 23rd September 2026

We are delighted to celebrate Exeter School pupil Lamorna, who rode for the England team at the Four Nations Cup, hosted by Osberton International Horse Trials. Over four days, she took on dressage, showjumping and a challenging cross country course. She came away with an individual fifth place, a personal best in international competition, and a team win for England.

Lamorna opened her competition with a solid performance in the dressage. She then followed it with a great round of showjumping in a packed arena, keeping England firmly in contention.

The cross country course was technical, with well-built fences to test horse and rider. Lamorna produced a wonderful run, finishing within the optimum time to secure a double clear.

Forty riders took part in this very competitive section of the Four Nations Cup. Against that strong field, Lamorna finished individual fifth, a personal best in international competition. Her double clear across country, inside the optimum time, also helped secure a team win for England.

Lamorna now turns her attention to representing Exeter School. On Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, she will compete at the National Schools Championships at Addington, jumping at 1m and 1.10m for the school.

Congratulations, Lamorna, on a fantastic result for England. Everyone at Exeter School wishes you the very best of luck at Addington!

September 2026

It has been a summer to remember for Lamorna May. Her equestrian success has taken her from regional competition all the way to a place in the England team. Across three major events, she has competed against some of the best young riders in the country and come away with outstanding results.

In July, Lamorna was selected to represent the Southwest in the U18 eventing team at Bishop Burton. Earning a regional place is a real honour, and it set the tone for a remarkable few months.

In August, Lamorna finished third individually in the National Chairman’s Cup at the Pony Club Championships. This was an incredible achievement. More than 70 riders took part in the three-day event, which combines dressage, show jumping and a challenging cross-country course. These results have earned Lamorna a place riding for the England team in the Four Nations Cup. The event takes place at Osberton, Nottinghamshire, at the beginning of October, and everyone at Exeter School will be cheering her on.

Last week, Lamorna rode for Exeter School at the National Schools Elite Show jumping in Hickstead’s famous International Arena. Competing against more than 50 riders from schools across the country, she finished seventh in the 110cm class and second in the 1m class.

Lydia J also enjoyed a great result at the Pony Club Championships. She finished third in her section of the 90cm eventing competition.

Congratulations to both riders on a fantastic summer of equestrian success. Their hard work, dedication and partnership with their horses are a joy to see. We look forward to following Lamorna‘s progress with the England team next month.

October 2025

We’re proud to bring news of Lamorna’s riding success from Ireland and Ballindenisk Four Nations Cup event. The Pony Club Nations Cup at Ballindenisk, Ireland in September 2025 was the first of its kind, bringing together young riders from England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland to compete in an international eventing competition. In the same weekend, Ballindenisk also hosted the George Mernagh Cup, a new youth series that served as the final leg of its inaugural season, celebrating international youth talent.

Lamorna achieved a great result in the International PC 1* – a personal best in the dressage, clear show-jumping and was part of the England winning team to bring home the cup.

March 2025

Lamorna May (U5) represented Exeter School this weekend at Pontispool, Taunton, completing against leading schools across the Southwest in a qualifying completion organised by the National Schools Equestrian Association. (NSEA)

She came 1st in both the 90cm and the 1m show jumping classes winning by a three second margin and has now qualified for the National Schools Equestrian Championships in October.

Last month at the National Pony Club Spring Barrier Festival at Addington, Lamorna, riding Theodora, was placed 6th and 7th nationally in the 90cm and 1m show jumping with her team coming second in both classes.

Lamorna qualifies for national schools’ championship

Lamorna (Upper Fifth) recently represented Exeter School at a national show jumping qualifier at Moreton in Dorset, competing against teams and individuals from Millfield, Bryanston, Sidcot and Gillingham to mention but a few. She secured 1st place in the 90cm competition against over 50 other riders and a 3rd place in the 80 cm. She has qualified to represent the school at The National Schools Equestrian Championships in the Autumn.

You may remember that Lamorna represented Exeter School on Destino at Bicton College in a Devon dressage competition in May. Lamorna was placed third qualifying for the national event in Addington in October, and at Bampton she came 5th at the one-day event in Dorset, qualifying her for the national 3-day event at Moreton in Dorset which she has just competed in. The weekend after the event at Bicton, Lamorna had the amazing opportunity to compete at the National Schools’ Equestrian championships which took place at Hickstead at the end of May and ended up 25th out of 260 competitors in the 80cm class and 11th as an individual in the 90cm eventers challenge.

These are absolutely amazing achievements and we hope to continue following Lamorna’s riding career. Good luck at nationals Lamorna!
