Exeter School pupils shine at the London Aquatics Centre

Two Exeter School swimmers delivered impressive performances at the prestigious IAPS National Swimming Finals, held at the iconic London Aquatics Centre, competing against some of the strongest young swimmers from across the country.

Representing Exeter School on the national stage, Ruby and SheShe qualified for the finals after a highly competitive season and joined more than 200 swimmers from independent schools nationwide in their respective events.

National recognition for Exeter School swimmers

Competing in an exceptionally talented field, Ruby secured a commendable 14th-place finish. Her achievement reflects the hard work, dedication and determination she has shown throughout the year, as well as her commitment to training and continual improvement.

Meanwhile, SheShe delivered an outstanding performance to claim second place nationally, earning a silver-medal finish in a field featuring some of the country’s most promising young swimmers. Her result places her among the very best competitors in her age group and is a remarkable achievement at such a prestigious event.

Exceptional achievements for Exeter Junior School pupils

What makes these results even more impressive is the age of the competitors. Ruby and SheShe are pupils in Exeter Junior School, currently in Lower Two (Year 5) and Upper Two (Year 6) respectively.

To compete at a national finals event against more than 200 swimmers from leading independent schools across the country is a significant accomplishment in itself. To achieve top-15 and podium finishes at such a young age demonstrates exceptional talent, commitment and maturity.

Their performances are a wonderful example of the enthusiasm, resilience and ambition that characterise sport at Exeter Junior School, and they serve as an inspiration to younger pupils who aspire to follow in their footsteps.

Competing alongside leading independent schools

The IAPS National Finals brought together top swimmers from leading independent schools across the UK, including St Peter’s, Mount Kelly and Blundell’s.

With strong performances across multiple events, St Peter’s were crowned overall champions of the competition. Exeter School was proud to be represented among such high-calibre schools and to see its pupils perform so successfully on the national stage.

A proud moment for Exeter School

Reaching the IAPS National Finals requires swimmers to progress through highly competitive qualifying rounds, making participation alone a notable achievement. Ruby and SheShe’s success reflects not only their individual talent but also their dedication to training and their passion for swimming.

Everyone at Exeter School congratulates both swimmers on their fantastic achievements. Their performances at the London Aquatics Centre are a testament to the values of perseverance, aspiration and excellence that underpin life at Exeter School.

We look forward to following their continued progress and celebrating many more successes in the years ahead.
