Ski Trip 2026

Posted: 26th February 2026

In this article, Mr Glanville shares his experiences from this year’s action-packed ski trip to Austria.

Over the February half term, 38 excited pupils and a team of dedicated staff headed out on our much‑anticipated ski trip to Austria. After a fun‑filled 24‑hour coach journey — complete with plenty of sleep, snacks and more than a few films — we arrived ready for five fantastic days on the slopes.

We spent our first and final days skiing in Lungau, where pupils quickly found their feet and made impressive early progress. Days two to four took us up to Obertauern, where we were treated to excellent conditions, including fresh powder and a memorable heavy snowfall on Day four that made the mountains feel truly magical. Our final day back in Lungau was a perfect bluebird day — bright sunshine, crisp snow and the best possible way to round off the week.

Evenings were packed with après‑ski activities that kept everyone smiling. We enjoyed a lively pub quiz, a trip to a pizzeria in Katschberg (complete with a fiercely competitive “hammer the nail into the log” challenge), and a games night featuring traditional Austrian nine‑pin bowling. A visit to Badelinsel in Tamsweg gave pupils the chance to enjoy the legendary slide and the extra‑warm outdoor pool, while the ever‑popular Lucky Flitzer rollercoaster delivered its usual mix of screams, laughter and unforgettable photo‑finish faces.

On the slopes, everyone made excellent progress, showing determination, resilience and a brilliant attitude throughout the week. A special mention goes to Mal and Megan, who were outstanding ambassadors for the school and exemplified our virtues at every stage of the trip. We would also like to recognise Sam, who unfortunately injured himself on Day three but refused to let it dampen his spirits — he joined in with all the après‑ski fun and even made it back up the mountain for lunch.

A huge thank‑you must go to all the staff who gave up their time to make this trip possible. Their hard work, care and enthusiasm ensured a safe, memorable and hugely enjoyable experience for every pupil.

Keep an eye out for details of Ski Trip 2027, which will be launching soon. The mountains are calling already!
