Pre-Prep Reflections Week 13 December 2025
Dear parents,
What an exciting final week of term it has been, with Christmas festivities taking centre stage as usual! Thank you so much to everyone who has sent in cards and gifts over the last couple of weeks to me and the rest of the team. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and thoughtfulness. Your kind words mean so much and have definitely kept us going through this very busy time of year.
On Monday afternoon, the whole school gathered in the hall to watch βThe Solar Expressβ, a Christmas pantomime about climate change and the importance of looking after our planet, performed once again by the excellent Tip of the Iceberg Theatre Company.
On Tuesday, the children and staff looked wonderful in their Christmas jumpers and busted their best moves at the Christmas disco. The children were amazing and, as well as dancing with their friends, they enjoyed making their own rainbow fruit kebabs, βbuyingβ items from a pop-up shop, and relaxing in our very own βspaβ room with hand massages and face painting!
Yesterday, we attempted to keep things as normal as possible for interview candidates who came in to teach Year 1. We have appointed a very experienced teacher to cover Ms Richardsβ maternity leave from March and I look forward to sharing further details with you in January, once contracts have been signed. As a special treat at the end of the day, the whole school was invited to attend a cinema-style screening of The Snowman in the hall with popcorn and squash.
This morning, we welcomed our drama club teacher Ruth Lawrence into school to lead a special elf-themed Christmas party for all the children in the hall. As usual, it was fantastic fun and each class left with a sack full of presents to share out. We hope the children enjoy sharing their new Christmas story books with you over the holidays.
My thanks go to all the staff who have made these magical events possible for the children. I would like to give a special mention to Mrs Landy who has done a brilliant job in the school office in her first few weeks, after joining the school at a particularly busy time of year. She has been working hard to get the clubs bookings finalised this week and we are happy to let you know that we have been able to accommodate all of the club requests, so please assume that your child has a place at all of the clubs you selected for them. Clubs will begin on the first day of term in January.
I hope everyone gets some time to rest and recharge over the break, ready for further adventures in 2026! We look forward to seeing you again on Monday 5 January for the start of the spring term.
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
