Pre-Prep Reflections Week 27 April 2025
Dear parents,
Welcome back to the summer term! I hope you all had a relaxing Easter break. The children have eased into the new term with three busy days spent reconnecting with friends, playing and learning (mostly) in the sunshine. This term, as ever, is an action-packed one, so please do keep an eye on the newsletter to stay up to date with all the exciting events that are taking place.
New joiners
This week we have welcomed a new pupil into Year 1. Bea and her family are in the process of relocating from Cambridge and I know you will all make them feel part of our school community over the coming weeks. This brings the Year 1 class back up to our capacity of 18 children. There are two new children joining the class in September when they move to the larger Year 2 classroom, and again this class will be full with 20 children. Mrs Higgins, our new teaching assistant, also started this week. She will be working in Year 2 on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and has already started getting to know the children.
Forest School
Yesterday, it was lovely to have Mrs Furniss back in school to do some planting with the Early Years children at Forest School. Many of you will remember Julie as my former PA and school administrator. She is also a keen gardener and helped the children to plant sunflowers, pansies and lettuces. We look forward to seeing her again in a couple of weeks, when she will be doing similar activities with the older children.
Sun safety
We are expecting much warmer weather next week. Hopefully this is here to stay, so please can we remind you to ensure that your child has a sun hat in school to wear outside. Children are also welcome to wear sunglasses and bring in sun cream, but they need to be able to apply this themselves. We recommend the roll-on products. Please ensure that all items are clearly named.
Next week
I am out of school on an ISI inspection in Cornwall next week from Tuesday to Thursday and Ms Richards will be leading the school in my absence. On Friday, Year 1 will be visiting World of Country Life in Exmouth.
Fingers crossed for some sunny weather this weekend that we can all enjoy.
