Field Day is always remembered fondly each year as we send our senior pupils off to a variety of locations for the day (some even for slightly longer) to experience a range of activities to build confidence, skills and generally have some fun. Generally, groups went out on Friday 10 October 2025.
Lower Fifth pupils started out first, leaving school at 4.15am on Thursday, departing for Belgium/France with Ms Harris at the helm. You can read more about what they got up to in their blog here.
Our youngest senior pupils, those in Third Form (Year 7), experiencing their first senior school Field Day, headed out to Beer Quarry Caves on a geography focused trip.
Fourth Form (Year 8) went out to the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth.
Our Duke of Edinburgh explorers went out to two locations – our Middle Fifth pupils went to Woodbury/Haldon to complete their silver navigation training and our Lower Sixth pupils went out to Princetown on Dartmoor for their gold training.
Our Community Service pupils loved connecting with younger children heading out to Littleham School in Exmouth — especially during breaktime, where laughter and play brought everyone together. It was inspiring to see the direct impact of our fundraising for Wooden Spoon in action as their representatives joined our pupils in providing some great rugby inspired games in the playground, and the reflections our students have written since show just how meaningful the visit was. Thank you to David from Wooden Spoon Charity, Jo and the Littleham team for such a warm welcome!
Some Lower Fifth pupils went out to Plymouth for a boat ride and challenge each other to some crazy golf.
Pupils involved in SWUNK stayed in school for the morning, rehearsing pieces they would be playing in the afternoon when they went out to visit St David’s Primary School. Our pupils really enjoyed the opportunity to perform and undertake some workshop activities. We hope St David’s pupils enjoyed listening to them and might be inspired to take up an instrument having heard the band play live.
Our CCF teams were out all over the place. Lower Sixth army cadets went to Blackrock; there was an army overnight excursion to Nantilio Woods; Upper Sixth took the lead with recruit training in Woodbury Common, handing over their expertise in all areas (including a bit of Backstreet Boys karaoke!) to our Middle Fifth pupils; RAF and RN Lower Sixth cadets were in Haldon Forest; Upper Fifth RAF were in Escot Park, and RN Upper Fifth were on the water at Havens Banks.
