Pupils Perform in Final Informal Concert of the Academic Year
The final Informal Concert of the academic year brought together musicians from across Exeter School on Wednesday 17 June, celebrating a wonderful range of talent in a relaxed and supportive setting.
Open to all instrumentalists and singers, the concert welcomed performers from both the Junior and Senior Schools and provided an opportunity for pupils to share their musical achievements with family members, staff and friends. As with all concerts in the Informal Concert series, the atmosphere was warm, encouraging and appreciative, allowing musicians of all ages and experience levels to perform with confidence.
Junior School Musicians Take Centre Stage
The Junior School was particularly well represented, with eight pupils performing solo items and a further four pupils taking part in duet performances.
Their contributions showcased impressive commitment, musicality and growing confidence, reflecting the strength of music education across the school. Performing in front of an audience is an important part of every young musician’s development, and the concert offered a valuable opportunity for pupils to share the progress they have made throughout the year.
Senior Pupils Inspire Younger Performers
Senior School musicians demonstrated a high level of technical skill and artistry through performances on saxophone, trumpet, piano and voice.
The varied programme highlighted the breadth of musical opportunities available at Exeter School, while also providing inspiration for younger pupils beginning their own musical journeys. The audience enjoyed a wide range of styles and repertoire, with each performer bringing enthusiasm and individuality to the stage.
A Collaborative Finale
The concert concluded with a memorable series of ensemble performances. A string trio was joined by Miss Willson and Miss Hill’s Senior String Ensemble, demonstrating the collaborative spirit that lies at the heart of music-making at Exeter School.
The final performance came from the Flute Ensemble, directed by Mrs Molins, bringing the evening to a fitting close and celebrating the shared enjoyment of performing together.
Looking Ahead to More Musical Celebrations
Although this marked the final Informal Concert of the year, there is still plenty to look forward to in the Exeter School performing arts calendar.
The much-anticipated Jazz Supper will take place on Tuesday 30 June, offering another opportunity for pupils to showcase their talents. The academic year will then culminate in a celebration of creativity across the school site on Thursday 2 July, when music, drama and the visual arts will come together in a vibrant after-school festival of the creative and performing arts.
Congratulations to all pupils who performed and thank you to the families and staff who continue to support the thriving musical life of Exeter School.
