The annual sports awards dinner took place on Friday 27 March 2026 with 240 invited guests coming together at Sandy Park for a fabulous evening. This much anticipated event marks the end of the spring term and provides the perfect setting to celebrate the many successes and people involved in a year of sporting excellence.
Each captain of their respective sports were joined by their vice captains to reflect on their season and time at the school before the heads of sport presented individuals with awards and colours to recognise their performances, commitment and dedication during their time at school. The captain and vice-captain of cricket also spoke ahead of their new season.
Awards included a virtues award, team player of the season, player of the season as well as the main cup awarded to the outstanding individuals in each first team squad (recipients below). There were also two new awards this year; an award for individual excellence, which was awarded to Rory BW for his outstanding achievements in cross-country which included two national titles and representation of England, and an award for sports personality of the year. This recognised individuals whose character, both on and off the field, stood out. The award went to Ollie H who had represented the 1st XV rugby, captained the 2nd XI Hockey and Xanthe KS, 1st XI Hockey and 1st VII Netball, who started the school in the sixth form and has made quite an impact over the past 18 months.
The evening finished with perhaps the most sought after award – The Mason Cup. This award is presented to one male and one female Upper Sixth pupil each year. The recipients are required to have played multiple first team sports often, shown excellence in these chosen sports, often gained representative honours outside of school but also be an outstanding role model through their actions, commitment, dedication and character throughout their time at Exeter School Sport. The 2026 Mason Cup was awarded to George G and Lydia M.
