Senior School Field Day 2026

Posted: 19th October 2026

Pupils across Exeter School enjoyed a day of discovery during Field Day 2026, taking their learning beyond the classroom through a series of inspiring educational visits across Devon to compliment their learning and do team building .

The activities consisted of…

Third Form

Beer Quarry Caves

Third Form pupils enjoyed an exciting day trip to Beer Quarry Caves, where they explored the caves and took a short coastal walk. The trip was an enjoyable introduction to Third Form geography fieldwork and gave pupils a great foundation for the classwork they are currently undertaking.

Fourth Form

Paignton Zoo

Our Fourth Form pupils took a trip to Paignton Zoo, where they explored the zoo and completed a task sheet throughout the day, with prizes awarded for the best completed sheets. Pupils also took part in a photography and video competition, capturing their own highlights of the visit. The trip brought together different aspects of learning and gave pupils the chance to work independently.

Woodbury Common

Our Middle Fifth and Upper Sixth pupils took part in team-based activities on Woodbury Common, where they learned practical and medical skills. These skills will help them as they continue their Combined Cadet Force (CCF) training.

Upper Fifth

Silver DofE

Our Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) pupils headed out on Woodbury Common, practising their navigation and building on both basic and new skills. This training will help them as they work towards their Silver Award.

Community Service: Vranch House

Members of the Community Service in Upper Sixth had a fantastic visit to Vranch House, a local school for pupils with physical disabilities. Spending time in individual classrooms gave them a real insight into the care, planning, and specialist support that enables every pupil to succeed. The warmth, determination, and positivity we witnessed made the visit both enjoyable and inspiring. Thank you to the staff and pupils for making us feel so welcome.

Community Service: EPPS
A group of our L6 pupils enjoyed a wonderful day at Exeter Pre-Prep School on Field Day, spending time in classrooms and experiencing life from a younger pupil’s perspective. Working in pairs, they joined lessons, took part in activities, attended assembly, and enjoyed break time alongside the children.
The visit provided a fantastic opportunity to develop confidence, communication skills, and a greater appreciation of the nurturing environment in which our youngest pupils learn and thrive. It was a pleasure to see the enthusiasm with which they embraced every aspect of the day.
For one pupil, the visit was particularly special, as they had attended the school themselves when it was still known as The New School. Returning years later as a senior pupil made the experience even more memorable.
