Pre-Prep Reflections 13 February 2026
Dear parents,
Children’s Mental Health Week
This week we have been doing all sorts of exciting things to mark children’s mental health week. From special assemblies and daily story sessions to energising ‘wake and shake’ dance sessions with the whole school in the hall after lunch, we hope the children have expanded their awareness of mental health and understanding of this year’s theme of ‘belonging’ and special places.
Safer Internet Day
On Tuesday, Mr Bone came over to lead a special assembly for the children as part of Safer Internet Day. He talked about Artificial Intelligence and voice-activated devices such as smart speakers, and how we are responsible as humans for using these positively. This was explored further in my PSHE lessons with Years 1 and 2, with every child completing their own online safety plan. We also took the opportunity to launch our new online safety posters this week, which you can see here. The UK Safer Internet Centre has a range of tips, advice and guidance for parents on their website if you would like to find out more.
International Day
Today was our third annual international day, a chance to celebrate global diversity and give the children a taste of different cultural activities from around the world. See the article below for full details of all the fun we have been having. We have also been celebrating Lunar New Year this week, which falls in half term, 2026 being the year of the horse!
Congratulations to Year 2
Parents of Year 2 pupils have now all been contacted by Exeter School about the results of the recent 7+ entrance assessments. I am pleased to say that, once again, our children did very well. Congratulations to Olly, Emilia and Joshua who achieved the top three overall scores. We are very proud of all our Year 2 children and my thanks go to all the staff who have contributed to their success by playing a crucial part in each child’s journey from Nursery to Year 2.
After half term
A reminder that there are two staff INSET days on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 February, for which the school will be closed and we will all be over at Exeter School. We look forward to welcoming new staff Mr Lovett (Year 1 teacher) and Mrs Linton (Nursery practitioner) to our team after half term.
I wish you all a very restful and relaxing half term, and look forward to seeing everyone when we return to school on Wednesday 25 February, which will also be an open morning for prospective families.
