Two of our talented pupils have brought home a Bronze medal from one of the biggest stages in youth sport. Omar and Penelope were selected from just 20 boys and girls across the Home Nations to compete in the School Games triathlon finals — and they didn’t disappoint.

The School Games Finals took place over four action-packed days at Loughborough University, a home turf for elite young athletes.National governing bodies, including British Triathlon, hand-picked the strongest talent from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to race for their region or nation. Standing out among that calibre of competition is no small feat, and Omar and Penelope earned their places through months of hard work, dedication and grit. The commentator dubbed Omar and Penelope’s team the “Wildcard Team” on the day, adding an extra layer of pride to an already special experience. Representing a team built from standout individual talent rather than a single region made their achievement even more meaningful.

The race came down to the wire. As Omar took his turn on the final leg and pushed for the line, the whole team willed him home — and the result was incredible. Crossing the finish with a Bronze medal secured was a triumphant moment, not just for Omar and Penelope individually, but for every member of the “Wildcard Team” who competed alongside them.
