Runners-Up on Our Portugal Netball Tour

Posted: 20th October 2026

Our U18 netball team has returned from a fantastic Portugal netball tour, bringing home a runners-up finish at the Youth Netball Festival. Over five days on the stunning Algarve coastline, the girls competed against teams from different countries and enjoyed a brilliant mix of sport, sunshine and team spirit. Finishing as runners-up is an amazing achievement for our players. The festival gave the team a rare chance to test themselves against international opposition, and the girls rose to the challenge. Just as importantly, they gained an experience they will treasure for years to come.

Day One: Arriving at Browns Resort

On Friday, the team arrived at Browns, known as one of Europe’s finest sports resorts. Staying right beside the competition courts made it easy for the girls to reach training and their matches. The resort also offers training facilities throughout the site.

The team spent the rest of the day exploring their new surroundings and training ahead of the tournament.

Day Two: Training in the Portuguese Sun

The girls woke up on Saturday ready to train. After a day of playing in the Portuguese sun, they unwound with a calming yoga session beneath the trees.

Day Three: The Tournament Begins

Sunday marked the first day of the Youth Netball Festival. Afterwards, the girls swapped netball for padel in a match against the Exeter School rugby team. This fun afternoon ended with a lovely evening meal together.

Day Four: Determination on Court

On Monday, the team returned for the second day of the tournament and showed real determination in their game play. That evening, the girls relaxed on a sunset cruise with nibbles, a perfect reward after two days of competition.

Day Five: Splashing Down at the Waterpark

Tuesday was the team’s final day in Portugal, so they headed to Splashdown Waterpark for plenty of fun. It was the ideal way to round off the trip before the flight home.

Highlights of the Portugal Netball Tour

From a runners-up finish at the Youth Netball Festival to matches against teams from different countries, the Portugal netball tour gave our U18 team plenty to celebrate. The girls trained at one of Europe’s finest sports resorts and balanced their hard work on court with yoga, padel, a sunset cruise and a day at Splashdown Waterpark.

Congratulations to every member of our U18 netball team on an outstanding Portugal netball tour. Well done, girls!
