A massive well done to Harry, whose summer holidays turned into a showcase of talent, creativity and generosity! Harry’s story is a brilliant example of the community spirit we love to celebrate at Exeter School. Over the summer, Harry took to the stage at South Dartmoor Community College for a drum concert organised by his drum teacher. He performed an impressive three-song set, showing off both his skill and his musical range:
-Paranoid by Black Sabbath
-Yellow by Coldplay
-Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes
Three very different tracks, one fantastic performance. Harry’s dedication to his musical talent clearly shone through on the night. Harry’s imagination didn’t stop at the drum kit. He designed a neat little accessory called “Stick Clip” — a simple, clever solution that holds drumsticks together so they stay as a pair.
Working alongside fellow pupil Archie, Harry brought the idea to life by:
-3D printing sample clips
-Creating eye-catching signs and displays
-Selling the clips at the concert to fellow music-lovers
It’s a fantastic example of pupil entrepreneurship in action — spotting a problem, designing a solution, and bringing it to market. Harry didn’t just want to sell a product — he wanted to make a difference. He pledged to donate 25% of all Stick Clip sales to Young Sounds UK, a charity dedicated to supporting young musicians. We’re delighted to share that Harry has now donated an incredible £28.17 to the charity. Every penny counts, and this contribution will help Young Sounds UK continue its vital work supporting the next generation of musical talent.
This wonderful combination of music, creativity and charity fundraising is exactly the kind of initiative we’re so proud to see within our school community. Harry has shown real generosity, kindness and entrepreneurial spirit – and Archie deserves huge credit too for helping bring the Stick Clip idea to life.
A huge well done to both boys. We can’t wait to see what you do next!
