Exeter pupils excel at MUN

On Sunday, Dr Bell and Mr Masters took two teams to the Bristol Grammar School Model United Nations (MUN) conference. It was a very enjoyable and successful day. In this article, we hear from Henry Batty in Upper Sixth (Year 13), who was attending his final conference as an Exonian after being a member of the club for almost his entire time at the school.

Our new-to-competition team comprising Angus, Bo, Oshi (Fourth form) and Charlie (Lower Fifth)

“On Sunday, two Exeter School delegations attended the Bristol Grammar School Model United Nations conference, where over 200 pupils from regional schools acted on behalf of global nations, in our case Guyana and Poland. A range of topics was discussed in UN style committees, such as conflicts in Sudan and nuclear energy, and during a major crisis debate in the General Assembly, about a simulated “Super Rabies” pandemic.

All delegates performed extremely well, including Henry (Upper Sixth) being awarded Highly Commended in his last ever conference as an Exonian, and Angus (Fourth Form) awarded Highly Commended in his first! The younger delegation, consisting of novice Fourth Form (Year 8) and Lower Fifth (Year 9) pupils, were awarded a commendation for their team performance, an amazing feat! We look forward to seeing their future successes.”
