Pre-Prep Reflections Week 8 November 2025
Dear parents,
Anti-Bullying Week
This week we have been celebrating anti-bullying week. We kicked off in style on Monday with Odd Socks Day and the children looked fabulous in an array of multi-coloured footwear! In assemblies this week, we have talked about the ways in which we are all unique and how important it is to celebrate our differences, as well as defining what bullying is and exploring the concept of an imbalance of power. Today has been a non-uniform day in aid of Children in Need. Thank you for all the donations, which raised a total of Β£124.77.
Remembrance
On Tuesday morning, we paused briefly for a more solemn assembly focused on remembrance. It was wonderful to see so many children wearing poppies, badges and wristbands in support of the Poppy Appeal. Thank you again for your support. We dimmed the lights, lit candles and held a one-minute silence, which the children did brilliantly. Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome back former pupil and military history buff Ali, now in Year 4 at the junior school, to lead a special assembly about Armistice Day and the meaning of the poppy. The children enjoyed asking Ali questions and handling some of his World War II uniform collection.
Entry to Year 3 meeting
Thank you to the Year 2 parents who came along to yesterdayβs information meeting about entry to Year 3. I hope you found it useful to hear more about our approach to transition and the entrance assessments. If you were unable to attend and would like a copy of the slides, please email Ms Richards.
Staff update
I am sorry to share that Mrs Salt has decided to leave Exeter Pre-Prep for personal reasons. I know this has not been an easy decision for her and I am grateful for all her support in this term. Mrs Samantha Landy has been appointed as our new school administrator and will start as soon as the statutory recruitment checks have been completed. We have also recruited two visiting music teachers who will be joining us in January. Mr Will Savage, who some of you may remember taught piano and music here previously, will be offering piano lessons. Mrs Rosie Davies, an experienced peripatetic teacher who works in a number of local schools, will be offering singing, violin and potentially piano and woodwind if there is enough demand. I have asked the class reps to canvass parents for levels of interest and will share further details with you over the coming weeks.
Next week
Autumn term reviews are due to be issued on Wednesday. On Tuesday morning, Year 1 will be visiting Berrybrook Steam & Classics in the village, as part of their βTravel and Transportβ history topic.
Have a lovely weekend and letβs hope next week brings some better weather.
