Our Lower Fifth (Year 9) and Middle Fifth (Year 10) pupils, the U15 and U14 sides, recently travelled for an exciting two night cricket tour to Bristol, combining sport, teamwork and memorable experiences beyond the boundary.

Although the weather unfortunately had other plans for their opening fixture, with some of the matches falling victim to the rain, the tour spirit has remained firmly intact. The pupils quickly embraced a packed programme of activities designed to develop both cricketing skills and camaraderie.

Training at the BOLA Centre

The group began by sharpening their technique at the renowned BOLA Training Centre, where pupils had the opportunity to experience high-quality cricket practice in a professional environment. Sessions focused on developing batting reactions, accuracy and confidence ahead of the season’s upcoming fixtures.

Team Bonding Beyond the Pitch

Away from cricket, the pupils have enjoyed valuable time together through a range of activities. A lively visit to Hollywood Bowl for ten-pin bowling provided plenty of friendly competition and team spirit.

The group also attended two exciting T20 Blast fixtures between Somerset and Glamorgan at Taunton and the second between Somerset and Gloucestershire, giving pupils the chance to watch high-level county cricket and experience the atmosphere of a professional match first-hand.

The tour continued at Bristol Activity Centre, where pupils are taking part in an Airsoft Skirmish challenge, encouraging teamwork, communication and resilience in a fun and energetic setting.

Creating Lasting Memories

School tours provide pupils with opportunities that extend far beyond sport alone. Experiences such as these help to strengthen friendships, build confidence and encourage independence, while creating lasting memories with peers and staff alike.

A huge thank you goes to the staff accompanying the trip and making the tour possible, with special thanks to Mr Gibson for leading the residential and organising such a varied and enjoyable itinerary.
