Juniors rank top 10 in international Primary Coding League

Posted: 7th April 2026

The Primary Coding League is the first coding league in the UK for Primary aged children. Providing students with the opportunity to collaborate with peers, tackle challenges and express themselves creatively through the medium of coding, the Primary Coding League is truly one of a kind with having a positive impact on children at the heart of everything.

Siobhán Morgan, Head of Junior School Digital Learning and Head of Technology for Learning here at Exeter School, has worked hard to get our pupils on the map. Considering the fact that Exeter School does not have a team in the national league, it is amazing that they are ranking in the top ten in the international league.

Our junior school competitors have been up against some tough competition with teams from the Doha English Speaking School, The Heritage Private School, Kalkie State School and the British International School of Boston. For each task there is often a change in the programming language being used and a few of them are brand new to the Exeter Junior School pupils. To keep up, they have had to be quick in picking up new coding. But they have made it to number 9 in the rankings list thanks to support from Mrs Morgan.

We have heard that they are enjoying this enrichment activity thoroughly and it is putting their learning in good stead for future applications.
