Flipping good fun at the pancake race

Posted: 27th February 2026

On Wednesday, Exeter Junior School held its annual Pancake Race. Although Shrove Tuesday fell in the half term, pupils were incredibly keen not to miss out on the fun. So, by popular request, our 24th Annual Pancake Race was held.

Four House teams competed in the pancake tossing relay, with the frying pan and pancake as the baton. Each House were represented by a team of eight, featuring two pupils from each year group and captained by their House captains. As the pupils run, each pan carrier has to toss their pancake at two marked stations along the way.

After a hard fought race, Gilbert were the eventual winners. Well done to all our pupils and thank you to our Pancake Master, Mr Pidwell for organising such a fun event.
