Last Friday CCF held a formal parade to mark the end of the Middle Fifth (Year 10) recruits core training. The recruits have been the largest ever intake into the CCF and in September began their training.
The cohort have had training in first aid, communications, drill, map-reading, navigation, leadership, teamwork and military knowledge. They have also had experience of flight simulator, air rifle shooting, camouflage and weapon-handling. The recruits have now selected Navy, Army and RAF sections and will continue in those sections with more specific training.
There were ten groups during the core training phase and the award for best platoon went to Golf platoon who had shown excellent organization, enthusiasm and teamwork. George, Iris, Daisy, Alice, Isla, Morgan, Henry, George, Theo, Henry, Suri and Anson each received a small prize.
The top recruit each year receives The Bugle award which is awarded for commitment, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn. This year’s top recruit, Malachy says “I’m honoured to get the award and have loved every part of CCF so far. It has been even better than I imagined and I am really looking forward to all of the activities still to come” he adds “Adventure training at Easter looks amazing and the flying trips and night exercises sound like so much fun, I can’t wait”. Malachy has gone on to join the RAF section and has already been putting in additional training time on the flight simulator.
