Informal Guitar Concert – 28 January 2026

Posted: 30th January 2026

With 20 different performers, the Informal Guitar Concert on Wednesday was a showcase for the wide range of styles guitarists have available at their finger-tips. From classical to folk, rock and pop to blues, with pieces played on acoustic guitars, electric and bass instruments, the eclectic mixture meant there was something for every music taste. Guitar teachers Mr Bowen and Mrs Stanley hosted the event, along with joining with a number of pupils to play duets. A further duet was enjoyed, played by sisters Amelie and Isla, who performed the delicate and intricate Polish Dance, by van der Staak. Backing tracks provided the accompaniment for many of the rock and pop items, providing our solo players the feel of a band experience.

Next week it is the turn of the brass instrumentalists in the Informal on Wednesday 4, whilst the following Wednesday is Choral Society concert-day. Tickets are still available for this Cathedral event on box-office – don’t miss the opportunity to support this whole school community concert.
