The Economics Society was delighted to welcome alumnus Chris Briggs (1980–1991) from consultancy firm The Table Group on Tuesday. Chris delivered an engaging and insightful talk on the vital role organisational culture plays as businesses grow and evolve.

Drawing on his experience advising companies at different stages of development, Chris explained how leaders work to ensure that a company’s culture remains aligned with its values, particularly as it transitions from a start‑up environment to a large multinational organisation. He also outlined the training and support offered to entrepreneurs as they navigate these cultural shifts.

The session proved especially valuable for A Level Business students, who are currently studying organisational culture and the challenges that arise when unhealthy or toxic cultures are allowed to develop. Chris’s real‑world examples brought the topic to life, offering students a practical perspective that complemented their classroom learning.

Students described the talk as stimulating and thought‑provoking, with many continuing the discussion back in lessons afterwards. The Economics Society looks forward to welcoming Chris again in the future and remains grateful for the continued support.
