Over half term, Charlotte and Tilly from the CCF Navy section successfully completed their Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Competent Crew course.

The five-day programme introduced cadets to offshore sailing, covering essential skills such as knots, nautical terms, sail handling and helming. Charlotte and Tilly also learnt the practicalities of life onboard — from cooking in close quarters to taking part in daily duties at sea.

Their voyage around the Solent included stops at the Isle of Wight and other coastal harbours, giving them valuable experience in navigation and anchorage. Having now completed their Competent Crew qualification, both pupils are eligible to progress to the RYA Day Skipper course to further develop their sailing skills.
