Informal guitar concert

Posted: 7th February 2025

A selection of the many pupils who learn the guitar had the opportunity to perform on Wednesday 5 February at the informal guitar concert. Compared by guitar teachers Mr. Bowen and Mrs Stanley, pupils from across the school community could be heard playing acoustic, electric and bass guitars. For some, the concert was their first ever public performance on the guitar, having only started the instrument a few months ago, whilst Mrs. Stanley noted that for Toby in Upper Sixth, this would be his 10th informal guitar concert. A number of the pupils played accompanied by their teacher, whilst others chose backing tracks, grooving with their favourite bands, whilst some delicate solo pieces were also enjoyed by the large audience. The event concluded with a trio of Tony, Sebastian and Mr. Bowen playing Autumn Leaves, which provided a foot-tapping conclusion to another successful music event.

We will be hosting the Jazz, Rock and Pop concert on Wednesday 12 February, starting at 5pm (to allow for sound checks) once again in the Music Hall. Featuring our school and pupil-led bands, this event not only comes with a cup of tea but also scones. Entry is free, however if you are planning to come, do please complete and submit the form on My School Portal by 9am on Monday for catering purposes.
