Exeter School pupils excelling in rugby

Posted: 7th February 2025

A number of the schools’ 1st XV rugby squad have been selected for representative teams over the past half term and continue to excel with their rugby following a memorable school season. Charley T and Ed F have recently been selected for the National Independent Schools Lamb’s squad . The IS Lamb’s is made up of players from throughout the country who have not been selected at academy level but still excel at rugby. Both boys had to go through regionalised and a national trial to be selected and did superbly to get selected for the squad. Both were selected to play against Jamaica U19s at Harrow and we hope they have further involvement later this term.

Joe F has also been selected to play representative rugby. After a successful run of games with Devon U18s winning against Somerset & Cornwall, and a drawing versus Gloucestershire, Joe was selected for the wider U18 South-West Regional squad. After again impressing he has been selected for the match day 23 due to play against the other regions over the next few weekends. This is a great achievement for him personally on the back of an outstanding season for the 1st XV where he was instrumental to the school’s success this year.

Finally, two of the 1st XV have also been involved in the Premiership academy league with the Exeter Chiefs Academy. 1st XV captain Ollie B has been a regular member of the Exeter Chiefs U18s during the academy league. He has started and played well in all three matches so far and has his final game is this weekend. Ollie has also been selected for the England  U18 training camps and has made the squad for the final session this term. Nate J has also been involved with the Exeter Chiefs Academy and was a regular feature of the squad against the other Premiership Academies at U16 & U17 level in the past few years and has been rewarded for his hard work and been selected in the U18 squad to play Bristol bears this weekend.
