Football and equestrian success

It is always great to hear about the sporting success of our pupils for their clubs and during competitions away from school. There have been two notable successes this week. Dom (L6) who played  pivotal role in the school 1st XI this season captained his U18’s Football Team Buckland AFC to victory in the Devon League Cup on Tuesday evening beating Plymouth Marjons 2-1 in the final. A great achievement, well done Dom.

There has also been ongoing success for our school equestrian riders over the past few weeks, both dressage and one-day events. Lamorna (M5) represented Exeter School on Destino at Bicton College in a Devon dressage competition. Lamorna was placed third qualifying for the national event in Addington in October, and at Bampton she came 5th at the one-day event in Dorset, qualifying her for the national 3-day event at Moreton in Dorset in August. However, the immediate focus is on this weekend when both Ella and Lamorna represent Exeter School at the National Equestrian Schools event at Hickstead taking part in the 70, 80 and 90cm arena eventing challenge. The riders have to complete a series of show jumps before heading onto 18 challenging cross country jumps in an arena setting.  We wish them every success and can’t wait to hear about how they get on.
