Upper One pupils moved on from learning about the Anglo Saxons to discover how they were invaded by the Vikings. The children learned that the success of the Vikings was in no small part due to their prowess as shipbuilders. The children’s project was to build their own model of a Viking Longship which had to include detailed labelling to show their understanding of how the ships were specifically designed to navigate the seas and channels between Scandinavia and the British Isles.
Some children decided to make edible versions of the longships and these wonderful creations exist only in the fond memories of our tastebuds. All the children enjoyed recreating these masterpieces of engineering.
