The Junior Mathematical Challenge

Posted: 25th May 2023

Promoting a love of problem solving, The Junior Mathematical Challenge is a 60-minute multiple-choice challenge. It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. The problems on the Junior Mathematical Challenge are designed to make students think. Many schools will only enter their strongest young mathematicians to the competition.

Pupils from Third and Fourth Form have achieved fantastic results in this competition with ninety-seven of them being awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold certificate for placing in the top 50% of participants nationally. A special mention for the sixteen pupils awarded the top prize of a Gold certificate for placing in the top 10% of all participants. In addition, twelve of these pupils have been invited to the Junior Kangaroo follow-on round. We look forward to seeing if their success can be repeated and wish them luck with the next round.

Open morning - Tuesday 17 June 9-10.45am
