Young House was around only from 1997-2000. It was named after the first female member of staff, Miss A Young, who arrived at Exeter School in 1915. She arrived from Girton College, Cambridge, and taught the Classics and remained on staff until July 1925.
Dacre Balsdon (1914-1920) recounted that:
Miss Young came, so full of wit and cleverness and life, and yet so small that one was afraid that a gust of wind might blow her away over Haldon, and she would be gone for good.
Percy Woodland (1916-1922) mentions that she was:
A Girton graduate who was sister of the great Arthur Young, the English scrumhalf. She ended up as Headmistress of Blackheath School.
