Andrew started his schooling at Miss Monday’s in Exmouth at the age of 3, before moving to St. Peter’s Lympstone and then on to board at Plymouth College. He went to Aston University Business School reading Business Management and Administrative Studies. He spent a year out at EW (later to become EY) in Exeter.
He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with EY in 1986 with a role in audit and joined Francis Clark in 1987, initially as a manager in the Torquay office before moving to Exeter and becoming a partner in 1992. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Tax and a Registered Trust and Estates Practitioner. For over 20 years, he was the firm’s head of Corporate Services before becoming the Managing Partner in 2016. He has a particular interest in family business and studied the subject at the IMD’s Business School in Switzerland.
Andrew splits his time between managing the firm and acting for landed estates. He particularly enjoys obtaining an in-depth understanding of the commercial issues and constraints facing clients and the personal objectives of the key decision-makers. Having obtained this essential appreciation of the context in which advice is to be provided, he has the skills and enthusiasm to make a key contribution to planning, strategic and tax issues.
Andrew has acted for Landed Estates for over 25 years and has expertise in dealing with succession, trusts and estates, heritage property and maintenance funds. For many clients he also acts as a facilitator and is often asked to contribute to board meetings.
Andrew is married to Julia and has a son (Charles, OE 2006-2011) and a daughter. He enjoys golf, cycling and the family’s three dogs.
