Pre-Prep Reflections Week 1 September 2025
Dear parents,
Welcome back to the new school year! A very warm welcome to all our new children and their families. We are delighted to have new children in all classes with more due to start in the Nursery class this term. Despite the sudden downpours, the children have done amazingly well at getting back into the swing of things this week, including after-school clubs. If you haven’t managed to book these yet, please contact Mrs Salt in the school office to see what spaces we have available. It was also great to see so many parents at our Welcome Evening on Wednesday. We hope you found the information useful.
Staff news
Our new staff are also settling in well to the school. Miss Wheller has had a great first week with her Year 2 class who have made her very welcome, and Mrs Salt has been busy learning the ropes in the school office and chaperoning on the shuttle bus. Congratulations to Mrs Dray, our Nursery Leader, who successfully passed her Level 5 diploma in Early Years leadership over the summer holidays. This has taken lots of hard work over the past two years and we are all so proud of her. Mrs Dray will be continuing her studies this year by commencing a Level 6 course with the Open University to become a fully qualified teacher.
Pupil and sibling photographs
Sadly the whole school photo over at Exeter School had to be cancelled this week due to the poor weather forecast. However, on Monday, we have Pret-a-Portrait Photography in school all morning to take individual and sibling photographs. If you have a child in Nursery who does not attend school on Mondays, you are welcome to bring them in for a photograph at 9am if you would like to.
School uniform
Please may I remind you that all children need to have a coat and welly boots in school at all times. The children look very smart in their new uniform, and they are welcome to continue wearing the old uniform items until September 2028. Our new supplier, Schoolblazer, are now stocking all-in-one waterproof playsuits for Forest School if you would like your child to have their own one.
Data Collection Forms
Please have a look in your child’s bookbag for a white A4 envelope, which contains a letter and a data collection form. Each year, we ask parents to check the information and ensure that it is up to date. We would be most grateful if you could follow the instructions in the letter and return the form to us by Friday 19 September so that we can update our records. Thank you for your support.
Impetigo
We have had one case of impetigo reported in Reception class this week. Please click here to read the NHS guidance on this skin infection. If you suspect your child may have impetigo, please inform the school and seek treatment. Children will need to remain at home for 48 hours after treatment to avoid the spread of infection.
Next week
We are holding our first open morning of the year for prospective families on Thursday next week, from 9.30am. As always, word of mouth is our strongest recommendation, so please do pass the details on to anyone who you think may be interested in having a tour of the school. I will also be aiming to set up Tapestry accounts for new Nursery and Reception parents next week, so please look out for an activation email.
