Junior Reflections Week 12 December 2025
Dear parents,
IÂ cannot believe that we have nearly made it to the end of 2025. This week has been one of turkey, sparkles, tinsel, carols and a whole lot more and it is one of my favourite times of the year. As always, it has been busy, but the pupils do everything with enthusiasm, kindness and a smile.
Wednesday saw a wonderful array of Christmas jumpers and hats, and we even had a special appearance from Frosty the Snowman, AKA Mr Gaskill. This was followed by the most delicious Christmas dinner, where crackers were pulled, laughter was heard and mince pies were consumed. Thank you, Mr Swan and all the catering team, what a feast we all had and how lucky we are to have such amazing food. On Friday, the whole school travelled to the Cathedral for our annual Christmas service; it was a wonderful time and a huge well done to our readers and the choir who, as always, represented the junior school impeccably.
I had the most enjoyable time on Thursday afternoon where Mr Bone and I visited pre-prep for their Christmas nativity, tradition woven with Beauty and the Beast; I can honestly say that my face hurt afterwards from smiling so much. Not a lobster or robot in sight but a lot of joy, wonderful singing and of course shepherds and angels; what a way to end the week!
I wanted to share some staff news with you; Mrs Conway Clifton is expecting her first child with her husband Jack, I am sure that you will join me in congratulating her and we wish her a healthy pregnancy. I will be recruiting for her maternity replacement in the New Year. I can also share with you that, after a thorough process against a national field, I am delighted to announce that Mr Rhys Evans has been appointed as Deputy Head from September 2026, taking over from Mr Wood who will be retiring.
And so, even though we have a few more days to go with school finishing on Thursday at 12pm (all school buses will depart at 12.15pm), this will be my last newsletter of 2025 and it just remains for me to wish you and your families a festive Christmas break, and I look forward to welcoming you all back in the New Year.
