One of our Friday 8 Programme’s options, for all pupils in Middle Fifth (Y10) and above, is to become a Combined Cadet Force (CCF) cadet. The first couple of weeks of the academic year has seen a record number of new recruits having their introduction to training and all are now due to start ...fully this week with Field Day on Woodbury Common next week.
Upper Fifth have had command tasks (Army), weapon handling (Army), First Aid (RAF), self-defence (RAF) and paddleboarding at Haven Banks (Navy).
Lower Sixth have had an introduction to the BTEC in Teamwork and Personal Development (equivalent to 3 GCSEs) which they will be completing through the course of the year in CCF, while Upper Sixth have been rehearsing their serials for field day. We look forward to being able to showcase many more of their activities, designed to develop leadership, discipline, self-reliance and teamwork, throughout the year.

On Tuesday, our Economics Society was delighted to welcome Nicky Tait, Commercial Relationship Director for @natwest Devon and Cornwall Banking, for an engaging and informative session with pupils. Nicky offered a fascinating glimpse into the dynamic world of commercial banking, highlighting how ...NatWest builds and nurtures relationships with a wide range of businesses across the South West. From manufacturing and service-based industries to cutting-edge technology firms, pupils learned how banks play a vital role in supporting regional economic growth.
The talk explored the many ways banks assist businesses, including the use of credit risk assessments and tailored financial solutions. Nicky also shed light on the diverse career pathways available in the banking sector, emphasizing the variety and excitement of roles within the industry. Vice President Larissa (U6) was able to ask about the intersection between banking and structural engineering - an area she hopes to study at university - looking at how financial institutions collaborate with technical sectors to fund innovation and infrastructure.
“It was very informative to learn how banks like NatWest support such a wide range of industries in our region,” said Year 13 pupil Jack. “I hadn’t realised how many different roles exist within banking, and it’s made me think differently about career options in finance.” The Society continues to provide pupils with opportunities to connect classroom learning to real-world applications, and this visit was a perfect example of that mission in action.

Another amazing cricketing opportunity for Mo (U5) who attended an elite spin camp held at @lborosport on Monday & Tuesday.
Mo was able to meet and work with some current international cricketers and a few former ‘greats’ of the game. This follows a fabulous summer of cricket for ...Mo who represented @somersetcricketofficial 2nd XI and represented the ECB south west at the Bunbury festival.

Today has been all about our enrichment opportunities here at Exeter School with clubs in action in junior school and our annual Clubs & Societies lunchtime fair for senior pupils to see what's on offer and sign up.
Members from the Upper Two and Lower Two (Years 5 and 6) Maths ...enrichment club made various different tangrams - a traditional Chinese dissection puzzle consisting of seven flat geometric pieces, called "tans," that are formed by cutting a square into specific shapes. The objective of the puzzle is to use all seven tans, without overlap, to create specific patterns or images, such as animals, objects, and even letters. We had lots of success creating the fox!
Meanwhile, over in senior school, staff donned themed attire and brought out their telescopes, Warhammer and a myriad of other club-related paraphernalia to showcase everything on offer to our pupils here. There really is something for everyone.

We were so lucky to have amazing sunshine for our whole school photo on Tuesday highlighting our gorgeous new uniforms. It's a huge feat to get everyone together so we'd particularly like to thank pupils who went up onto the stands first - we hope you treasure the memories of being almost... level with the school roof in some of these pictures!

Over the weekend, George in Fourth Form (Year 8), represented the South West at the British Inter-Regional Triathlon Championships, competing in four races across two days. He won his individual final and finished 18th fastest in Great Britain, contributing to Team South West’s success in ...bringing home the gold medal!
We are incredibly proud of George's perseverance and dedication, particularly as the swim was in a lake that was 14 degrees. Well done for showing true Exonian character George!
Last week, A Level biology for Upper Sixth kicked off with a hands on team building exercise, where models chlorophyll molecules were used to build a diagram of a chloroplast. Pupils learnt about the structure of a chlorophyll and its role in the light dependent stage of photosynthesis.
