eNewsletter – spring term
It has been wonderful to see so many OEs over the past term, both back at school and further afield. Earlier in the year we enjoyed a superb Exonian Lecture from Alex Leger (1958-1966) as well as a rousing Choral Society performance in Exeter Cathedral, with a number of OEs singing alongside staff, pupils and parents. More recently, a significant number of OEs came together in the House of Commons for our London dinner. Alumni generously gave their time and expertise to pupils at two significant careers events this term – the Lower Sixth Futures Conference and our Engineering Panel (more on both below). Our Development Board, who provide strategic advice on philanthropy at the school, had a productive meeting this month. The school remains very grateful to all those who, often quietly and loyally, support the school and future Exonians with gifts to our bursary fund.
You will find details of upcoming OE events in this eNewsletter. I hope we will see many of you there, and please do get in touch with my colleague Claire Priday, our events officer, if you have any questions – clp@exeterschool.org.uk.
The school is as busy as ever, with numerous sports fixtures – read about one particularly successful netball achievement below – concerts, art exhibitions, drama performances and as well as other events including (but not limited to!) library sleepovers, World Book Day celebrations, and Founders’ Day. I hope you enjoy Acting Head Graham Bone’s reflections on all the wonderful opportunities that Exeter School offers to pupils today, having recently spent a Saturday interviewing our prefect candidates, I can certainly attest to the fact that pupils are very much making the most of what Exeter School has to provide.
I hope this better weather continues into the Easter holidays and wish you a relaxing and enjoyable break if you’re able to take some time off. A number of you will receive a call as part of our telephone campaign – I know the callers are already looking forward to talking to you.
