Lower Two pupils enjoyed a brilliant Robot Morning today, working collaboratively to design, build and code their own robots using egg boxes and electronic components.
Classrooms were full of excitement as pupils shared ideas, solved problems together and celebrated when their designs began to work. The morning was made even more special by the support of our Lower Sixth (Year 12) A Level Electronics pupils, who joined the classes to offer guidance and encouragement.
The morning was broken down into three stages:
1. Building and coding
Pupils began the day in their form rooms, designing and building their robots before experimenting with coding and testing different components.

2. Testing and debugging
Next came the challenge of navigating a maze. Pupils tested their robots, debugged their code and made improvements to both design and programming.

3. Reflecting and filming
To finish the morning, teams created short videos documenting their robot designs and their experiences of the day, capturing photos and clips to showcase both their final creations and the journey they took to get there.

Well done to the pupils for showing such resilience and perseverance when they inevitably encountered technical problems. It was rewarding to see all their hard work pay off, with some great robot creations on show!
A big thank you goes to Mrs Morgan for organising such a special event, as well as to all the teachers and sixth formers who helped make it possible.
