Informal String Concert

Posted: 14th November 2025

The first of this year’s Informal Concert series took please in the Music Hall after school on Wednesday 12th. Our opening musicians were string players, with the majority of performers in the concert being juniors – a testament to the continuing success of the Exeter School String Instrument Scheme, whereby all Form 1 pupils are given the opportunity to have paired music lessons for the year.

With a programme ranging from Bocherini to Bullard, there was something for everyone. There was an international flavour, as the audience were transported to France by Elizabeth playing Handel’s Bourrée, and Louisa took us to Spain with Bizet’s Habanera. The concert concluded with a movement from the Bach Concerto for Violin and Oboe, featuring Ingrid and Joshua, which will undoubtedly have inspired the younger musicians and was hugely appreciated by all.

Ingrid and Joshua, plus many more of our senior soloists and chamber musicians, will be performing next at the Chamber Concert on 18 November in the Chapel, starting 7.30pm. Tickets still available via MSP.
