Exeter School

Katherine Lloyd Clark

Katherine joined the governing body in March 2025 and sits on the Education Committee. She leads the Student Access, Recruitment and Admissions Service at the University of Exeter. Her career in higher education developed from her doctoral research into popular education in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.

Katherine began her career as an Admissions Officer at the University of Warwick just before Laura Spence became unintentionally famous. She moved to Bath in 2001 to take on a larger role including responsibility for postgraduate admissions as well as international student recruitment. In 2015, Katherine implemented a lifelong plan to move further West (a state of mind as well as a place). She became Director of University Guidance for EF Academy international schools – a fascinating and invaluable insight into the applicant journey from the student perspective. Katherine joined Exeter as an Associate Director in 2017.

Katherine is married to another historian, Professor James Clark, and has two daughters, both of whom moved to Exeter School for the sixth form. She spends most of her spare time working on unruly ‘Cob Cottage’ and its unkempt garden whilst being distracted by Merri, her Welsh fox-red retriever.

Open evening - 8 May

At Exeter School we believe that education is about the moments that make us. Meaningful moments that get etched in our memories and the everyday kindness that makes them possible. We welcome you to discover Exeter School in the best way possible. See it. Experience it. Ask questions to the people who matter the most – our pupils.
