It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks for one talented Exeter School pupil. Finn has represented Devon, Newton Abbot and Exeter across three separate water polo competitions, picking up a trophy, a table-topping finish and a well-earned silver medal along the way.
Devon Triumph at the Inter-Counties U17 Tournament
The weekend before last, Finn lined up for Devon in the Inter-Counties U17 competition at Millfield. The team battled through to the final, where Finn scored a superb goal in the deciding match against Gloucester to help seal victory for Devon.
Newton Abbot Go Top of the Table
Last weekend, Finn travelled to Walsall to play for Newton Abbot in the first round of the Junior Men’s U18 Conference League. The boys were outstanding, winning both of their fixtures:
- A hard-fought 11–8 victory over City of Birmingham
- A commanding 19–6 win over City of Sheffield
These results saw Newton Abbot finish the first round top of the table on goal difference. Round two follows in mid-November, and we will be cheering the team on.
Silver for Exeter at the Bristol and West Tournament
Not one to rest between fixtures, Finn was straight back at Millfield the same weekend, this time representing Exeter in the U17 Bristol and West Tournament. Exeter swept aside Bristol, Weymouth, Welsh Wanderers and Newport with convincing wins, reaching the final unbeaten. There, they were narrowly defeated by Newton, settling for silver on this occasion. Throughout the tournament, Finn contributed several goals and multiple assists, playing a key role in Exporter’s run to the final.
A Fortnight to Remember
From a Devon county title to league leadership with Newton Abbot and silver with Exeter, Finn’s dedication and skill in the pool have shone through. Congratulations, Finn, on a truly fantastic couple of weeks — we cannot wait to see what comes next.
