The Assembly Hall was a sea of coloured t-shirts for the Junior School Spring Concert on Tuesday, matching the bright and excited mood of all the pupils and their supporters in the audience.
The event was master-minded by Head of Junior Music, Mr Titchin, who directed all the choral items within the varied programme. The rousing whole school songs, including Mama Mia and Firework, featured moves choreographed by Mrs Pettet, and were given a particular boost by some excellent drumming by U2 pupil Agnes, who also wrote her own parts. The Junior Choir and Junior Singers also performed a varied programme of pieces, including Listen Sweet Dove by Ives, Tomorrow from Annie, and both What is this feeling? And The Wizard and I, from Wicked. Mr Daldorph provided piano accompaniment throughout, although was joined in this role by the ukuleles, played by both pupils and Miss Smith and Rev. Close in one of the choir items.
The junior instrumentalists were also took to the stage during the event. As the audience took to their seats, Mr Crossen’s Drumming Troupe welcomed everyone in with their energised rhythms, followed by the Junior Orchestra playing 3 pieces, conducted by Agnes, Stephanie and Grace, all in U2. Mrs Stanley’s Guitar Group featured the delicate and rather magical Song Without Words and Farruca, whilst the Sizzlettes and the Sizzling Strings, led by Miss Willson, delighted the audience with Test Drive and Ragtime.
The concert was rounded off by some delicious refreshments from Mr Swan and the catering team, bring to a close a joyful afternoon of music.
