On Tuesday, we held a media day for our sports scholars, welcoming sports journalist and creative producer Hamish Percy to the school for a series of workshops on public speaking, interview technique and developing a sporting profile.
Across the day, the scholars took part in a two-hour session focused on developing their ability to present themselves confidently in assemblies, handle on-camera interviews, and create purposeful social media content.
The pupils were fascinated to learn about Hamish’s experiences interviewing some of the world’s biggest sports stars for the SPORTbible YouTube channel, including Luke Littler (Darts), Jasprit Bumrah (Cricket), Carlos Alcaraz (Tennis), Harry Kane (Football), Maro Itoje (Rugby), Naomi Osaka (Tennis). Mrs Gibson also led a fantastic session on the importance of clear, confident communication and how to prepare effectively for public speaking.
Thank you to Mr Gibson for organising such a successful event. And well done to all the pupils for pushing themselves outside of their comfort zones. It was great to see the scholars grow in confidence throughout the day and gain valuable public speaking skills they can apply within sport and other aspects of life.
