Pupils smash the district cross country event

Posted: 21st November 2025

Last Tuesday the 11 November, 36 pupils from Third Form (Year 7) up to Upper Fifth (Year 11) competed at the Exeter Schools Cross Country Championships at Blundell’s School. Pupils competed in the first round of the English Schools cross country pathway where competitors qualify over several rounds in the hope to reach the English Schools Cross Country Championships in March 2025.

In true cross country style, there was rain and plenty of mud which made the course challenging in parts. The Inters started the meet with some great performances from Sophie W and Lisa H who finished 1st and 3rd in the Inter Girls. Austin P also ran very well and finished in third. In the junior boys’ race, there were some excellent performances overall and a special mention goes to George E and Daniel S who finished 1st and 3rd. In the junior girls’, Lydia J ran a strong race finishing 3rd overall. In the Third Form (Year 7) boys, the team produced a fantastic performance with five boys qualifying for the next round. Lastly, with plenty of mud for the girls to contend with, the Third Form (Year 7) girls did a fantastic job for their first time competing for the school in cross country. Evie J and Honor R produced an impressive performance finishing 1st and 3rd.

Congratulations to those that competed and represented the school. They were a credit to us and ran incredibly well.

Lastly, 21 pupils have qualified for the second round to represent Exeter Schools at the Exeter V East Devon Cross Country Championships on Wednesday 26 November. Good luck to those that are competing and we look forward to seeing their performances in a couple of weeks’ time.
