Form One’s “Incredible Edibles” tea party

Posted: 5th June 2025

Our Form One pupils have wrapped up their Madame Pamplemousse topic in spectacular fashion—with a beautifully planned and skilfully executed tea party that incorporated their remarkable English, maths, PSHE and creative talents!

From following precise baking instructions to designing cakes and labels, our young learners demonstrated their literacy and organisational skills in the most delicious way possible. The result? A feast fit for the most imaginative pâtissier!

A lesson in culinary arts

The day began with our enthusiastic pupils stepping into the world of professional kitchens, guided by our very own kitchen fairy, Mrs Wreford Hyde. Under her expert direction, the children spent the morning baking a delightful array of treats, carefully following instructions to recreate incredible edibles worthy of Madame Pamplemousse herself.

Adding to the experience, Mr Swan, our Catering Manager, delivered an insightful talk on kitchen hygiene and health & safety. The children were fascinated to learn about the planning and preparation that goes into professional food service, deepening their understanding of both the art and science behind culinary excellence.

Maths meets baking

Baking isn’t just about mixing ingredients—it’s about precision! As part of their learning, pupils incorporated mathematical concepts into their cake designs, carefully using perpendicular and parallel lines to create visually stunning and structurally sound confections.

An afternoon of entertainment and appreciation

Of course, no Form One event would be complete without a dazzling display of talents! Our pupils took the stage to sing, play musical instruments, perform poetry, drama sketches, magic tricks, dominoes and even showcased their photography skills. It was a true testament to their creativity and confidence.

This special tea party was also an opportunity to express gratitude to our incredible reading volunteers—Mrs Parkin, Miss Hendrick, and Mr Brookes—whose dedication has been invaluable in nurturing the children’s love for literature. In appreciation, the pupils performed “Food Glorious Food” in their honour, making the celebration even more meaningful.

A celebration to remember

As the afternoon unfolded, laughter and applause filled the air, marking yet another unforgettable milestone in our Form One journey. From delectable treats to spectacular performances, this event captured the essence of learning, creativity, and gratitude—all in true Madame Pamplemousse style! Here’s to the magic of food, the joy of learning, and the wonderful talents of our Form One pupils!
