The Open Mic sessions, which happen termly, are largely organised by our senior musicians and provide an ideal opportunity for bands and solo artists to perform to friends and family.
For Toby and Grace in the U6, who performed Bob Dylan’s It Ain’t Me Babe together, along with individually treating the audience to their own compositions, and fellow U6 pupil Archie, who chose Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day, the event marked their final concert in the Music Hall. The M5 band Untitled Document, gave their first Exeter School public performance, whilst individual and duet singers Rebecca, Emma, Rosalila, Lizzie and Megan are all regularly seen faces on the Music Department stage.
The event always has a relaxed feel, and despite the imminent arrival of exam season, it was a great opportunity for pupils to take time out of revision and enjoy making music together and have some fun. Click here to listen to the audio recording of the concert.
Although this was the last Open Mic of the academic year, we still have the Jazz Supper to come on 3 July. Tickets are now on sale via My School Portal to this event, which transforms the Assembly Hall into Exeter’s top jazz club, complete with delicious refreshments from Mr. Swan and the catering team.
