Torbay Music Festival success

Our talented musicians have had a very successful time at the Torbay Music Festival over the past couple of weeks. Pupils from both the junior and senior school performed in a wide range of categories and were rewarded with numerous medals.

  • Alicia (F1) won two trophies and one bronze medal for the Piano Intermediate Group and also competed in the Violin Primary Group where she won two further trophies.
  • Louisa (F1) came first in the beginner’s singing class and also won a silver and a bronze medal for her grade 2 violin pieces, and a bronze medal in the piano ‘featured composer’ category.
  • Grace (L2) came second in both the instrumental recital and primary/ secondary higher category.
  • Taylor (L2) performed in four piano classes two violin classes, and he achieved three gold medal, one silver and one bronze.
  • Simon (L2), won the Featured Composer (higher) class and also won four silver and two bronze medals in his other piano classes. He also competed with his second instrument, the violin, and won the grade 2 strings class and came second in the strings intermediate class.
  • Stephanie (L2) was awarded two merits for her grade 3 piano pieces and came third in the grade 5-6 strings class on violin.
  • Rosanna (U2) performed in several piano classes and won three golds and a bronze; taking home the Venner Cup, the Hilary Harwood Cup and the Johns Cup.
  • Andrew (4F) won first place in the following classes: Piano Baroque advanced, Piano grade 8, and Piano from memory advanced, and second place (and silver medal) in the Piano Romantic advanced. He also won the cup in one intermediate class of brass/woodwind and the second place in the grade 4 brass/woodwind class on his second instrument, the trombone.
