It was unclear whether it was the prospect of some great music or the delicious scones which drew in the crowds for the Jazz, Rock and Pop event on Wednesday 12 February – either way, the Music Hall was full. Jazz Bands 1 and 2, Sax Ensemble, Swunk and Swunkette all performed; as well as Mr Tamblyn’s new group Uptown Band, along with pupil-led groups When in Rome and Rosalila, in Upper Fifth’s, band.
Vocalists Grace, Darcy, Jaimie and Rosalila demonstrated impressive stage presence, whilst there were also accomplished improvised solos from many of the instrumentalists across the bands.
The event provides a tantalising taste of what will be coming in the ever-popular Jazz Supper Event at the end of the summer term.
The next Informal Concert will feature Strings and Piano on 5 March at 4.10pm in the Music Hall. All are welcome.
