In the last two weeks Lower Sixth Army section have had the pleasure of using the Dismounted Close Combat Trainer (DCCT), a system using a computer simulated firing range used by the British Armed forces for training in weapon handing without the risk of handling a live weapon. It operates offsite at Wyvern Barracks. Using the DCCT helps to improve position and hold of the rifles and to improve their grouping (consistently hitting the target in the same area; grouping their shots together). Staff can coach and fine tune techniques utilising the analysis from the computer system such as barrel movement, trigger pressure and even highlight incorrect drills and procedures in a safe environment. This is part of their progressive training as we look forward to summer camp later in the year.
