National swimming finals success

Posted: 9th June 2023

Over half term 10 swimmers from the Junior School travelled to the London Aquatics Centre to compete in the National Swimming finals.

Having qualified for 7 events for the IAPS National Swimming Finals, 10 members of the U10 and U11 girls and boys teams, travelled to the London 2012 Olympic Park to compete. Earlier that week, Team GB swimmer Adam Petty had hosted a world swimming event at the pool – the same pool that our swimmers were competing at the following week! For the U10 and U11 competitors, the atmosphere was electric, providing a platform for our swimmers to remember forever. All competitors gave it their all on the day and many of them improved their times, in some cases, knocking off 5 seconds from their qualifying times. The results from the day were as follows:

Girls U11:

50m butterfly – Holly Josselin 1st in the country

4 x 25m medley relay- 16th in the country

Boys U11:

50m freestyle- Daniel Sari 7th in the country

50m butterfly- Benjamin Robb 16th in the country

4 x 25m freestyle relay- 10th in the country

4 x 25m medley relay- 13th in the country

Boys U10:

25m freestyle- Alex Kennaird- Melling- 18th in the country

Huge congratulations to all swimmers on such an incredible achievement. All swimmers were a delight to work with and they did themselves and Exeter School proud. A big thank you for the parental support and Dr Robb from the senior school for helping staff the event all day.
