David joined Exeter School as Head of Human Resources in June 2025. David began his HR career after university in 2000 and has remained in the field ever since. He moved from Wiltshire to Devon in 2005 and brings with him extensive experience in the education sector following recent roles at a Russell Group University as a Senior HR Partner, and prior to that working closely with school leaders through the Education and Social Care teams of a Local Authority as their HR Business Partner. David’s experiences also include the hospitality, civil service and health sectors during his HR career that stretches over a quarter of a century. In addition to work, he has also recently completed a term as governor for a local village primary school and can be found occasionally volunteering as a parent helper for the local cubs group.
David is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)
Outside of work David enjoys spending time with his wife, two children and Miniature Labradoodle where they are often found doing a variety of fun and sporting activities. David’s strangest achievements have included reaching the semi-finals of the UK Rock Paper Scissors Championships in 2009 as well as volunteering at the 2015 Rugby World Cup where he was part of a team that held the Guinness World Record for the largest rugby scrum!
